what a Zagg

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend!
~
I have a special treat today.
Several family members received Zagg skins for Christmas,
and being that they are TOTALLY AWESOME,
they chose skins from my Zagg portfolio!
I'm highlighting them here so you can see what skins really look like.
So *FUN* for me to see these pics!
Zagg sells a lot from my portfolio but I rarely see the finished product!

I'm starting with my cousin Shell and her MacBook Air.
She chose my photo "Shell's Roses" - she actually brought these very roses
to the cemetery for my mother's service, so they are meaningful to us both.
See how even the inside is adorned with Zagg's protective skin?
They laser cut the skins to the precise specifications of your exact model.
Shell says it's like holding a bouquet of roses when she's using her laptop :)
This is Shell's cell phone. She has a thing for hearts.
She chose my pink salt heart photo from my Zagg portfolio. Cute!
This is Amy's Kindle, which turned out awesome!
Amy chose one of my cut paper photos from my Zagg portfolio.
Almost looks like a patchwork quilt - I love it!
Here is a front view. Zagg skins protect every part of your gadget.
And of course skins personalize your gadgets too!
This is my cell phone. It's a Droid Incredible - their backs have different levels.
I chose my crayon tips photo - even though the levels break it up, it still looks good.
Here is Davy's MacBook Pro, with one of my original paintings as it's skin.
I totally *love* how it turned out! The colors and the quality are spot on.
Zagg laptop covers include protection for the bottom too - cool!
Davy decided to keep his pad area free, but normally every inch is covered.
Depending on what model you have, you even gets side strips as protection.
To see one of my paintings from my portfolio on a laptop was totally awesome :)
~
So hopefully now you have a better idea of what Zagg skins really are,
and how they look, and what they cover... and how amazingly COOL they are!
You can click on the Zagg home site up near the top in my right side bar,
and you can also click the gumballs at the top right to see my 5 page portfolio!
SUCH A ZAGG!

in the pink

Okay, seriously? We all know how much I like pink. But even I was stunned after realizing how many pink flower photos I've been working on for my Zagg skins! Some pics I've used for note cards before but I'm redoing them. Some pics I've had but have never used. Some pics are new and I'm finally getting around to spiffing them up! And the funny thing is, I already have some pinky things on Zagg, and I actually have some more pink coming!
So yeah, I'm definitely in the pink :)

eye candy

Not really candy, even though it looks like it....... it's PASTA!
~
Yup, I've been playing with my pasta again :) Actually, I've been working on more photos for my Zagg skins.
I'm really excited about how this one turned out. It really is pasta, and it's called "mother-in-law's tongue"!
I'm stepping into the "no comment" zone on that topic, because fortunately I've got a great mother-in-law -
(you may talk amongst yourselves in the comment section if you need to make some colorful MIL anecdotes...)
but I have to admit, I think the name is hysterical, and I've seen different versions of it several times now!

I am aware that it IS Friday (HAPPY FRIDAY!!!) and normally I would be posting pics of my beloved Sandpoint,
but since I've been barely able to keep my teeth brushed since I posted those snowy white pics last Friday,
(you think I jest, but oh, if you only knew!) I am giving Sandpoint a break. That lovely snow did get me through the week though, and this week as well. We had a few lovely cool days but it's back in the 100's again - OY VEY.
So now that the weekend is finally here I'm going to hide from the heat and hopefully finish these photos!

Just for fun, here are the lyrics from a song about pasta I used to *love* when the boys were little
It's called "Pasta" by Linda Arnold, from her Peppermint Wings CD. The chorus - below - was my FAVE:

"On Monday I eat manicotti, Tuesday tortellini,
Wednesday ravioli, Thursday fettuccine,
Friday cappelletti, Saturday lasagna........
On Sunday I forgetti - Oh yes, of course - spaghetti!"

(*note: no mention of mother-in-law tongue pasta...)

Have a GREAT weekend!
P.S. We're having tortellini for dinner tonight instead of cappelletti. I'm such a rebel! Heh :)

this & that

the Mouse surfing in Kona, Hawaii, June 2010

 ~
So I had a few photos here and there that are a bit out of order now, but still wanted to share...
I decided to group them together for this little bloggie post because I foresee bigger blog stories on the horizon.
Speaking of which, how *adorable* is that Mouse up top, surfing for the first time!?!? I love that photo :)
He had the amazing opportunity to spend a week in Hawaii with a friend and his family this summer - he loved it.
Such nice people, they did awesome activities every day - I should have the Mouse create an actual post!
And I should probably say how *cool* he looks surfing instead of adorable... he starts HIGH SCHOOL tomorrow!
Some of you may remember the time I posted on Facebook that we arrived home from a movie only to find my naughty babies had somehow knocked the leftover pizza AND cinna-stix off the table and had eaten an entire pizza and the last box of cinna-stix........... LOOK HOW STINKY THEY ARE!!! This was a hard pill to swallow - ironic wording, I know - as I had not even had the opportunity to PARTAKE of any cinna-stix yet.
My sun tattoo and that's all I'm going to say
The Mouse practicing the banjo before leaving for church one Sunday. I think John caught him by surprise because you can tell he's concentrating. I love how he's in his suit :) But if you asked him, he'd much rather be one of Mumford & Sons. If you asked me, I sometimes feel like I'm in Deliverance country (shudder).
~
These next 3 pics are teasers because I'm working on more photos for my Zagg skins! Hope you like them!

nobody *nose* the trouble I've seen

Happy Friday! I hope everyone is having a great day and is ready for a terrific weekend :)

My nose saga continues. I had a really rough day yesterday, and if I have one more migraine along with this freaking nose nightmare I'm going to blow my head off but I'm sure I'll start feeling better soon. One thing is for sure - I will never live the cocaine thing down. Never. My boys think it's hysterical. I've heard more drug jokes than you could imagine. Or I should say, more than usual. But now they've switched from their standard pot and LSD jokes to cocaine jokes just for this special occasion. Bless their little hearts. They make me so proud.

So since I'm basically sitting around on my arse all day between doing loads of laundry and purchasing more iTunes than anyone could possibly need, I've been working on enhancing and sending more of my photos to Zagg to add to my laptop/gadget 'skin' collection :) The photos you see here are two of the ones being sent. I took both of them in Lucerne Switzerland so they hold really special memories for me. One is of all the multicolored flowers cascading down the sides of the covered bridge in town, and the other photo was taken just outside of Lucern in the countryside. It's one of my all time favorite photos because it was one of the most beautiful places I had ever been. Everyone asks if I really took that photo. Yes, I really did - I took it while being pulled in a horse-drawn wagon no less! So you can all go cry yourselves to sleep on your huge pillows now :D
Have an awesome weekend my friends!

SKINS are not just appetizers

I finally - FINALLY! - feel like I can shout the news regarding this project I've been working on for a month or so!
Which is a really good thing because it's practically done me in to keep it to myself!
I have contracted with a company called Zagg, so they can use my original photographs for their 'skins' :D
HOW TOTALLY COOL IS THAT!!!
A 'skin' is a strong, thin, protective layer that attaches to either a hand held device (ie cell phone) or a laptop.
It's basic purpose is to protect your expensive device, while at the same time, you hardly know it's there.
Zagg is the home of the original Invisible Shield - many of you may already use this product -
and if not, I urge you to check it out and familiarize yourself with it because it's amazing.
But now you can decorate your 'skins' and make your devices more your own, as well as protect them.
That's where my original photos come swooping in with all their color and fun!
Zagg offers their own artwork to choose from, as well as the artwork of several other graphic artists.
Another creative option for creating a Zagg 'skin' is that you can upload an original photo of your own.
I am Zagg's only artist who uses actual photographs instead of graphic design, and I am very proud of that!
So far I offer 50 photographs to choose from on the Zagg website, and I am adding more photos frequently.
IS THAT GROOVY OR WHAT!!!
Below are some examples of my own work that I pulled right from their site:

And so my friends, I am very excited :) If you'd like to see all that Zagg has to offer - which is a LOT - here is the Zagg Website. If you'd like to see ALL the 'skins' available, click on the light gray box that says ZAGGskins. If you'd like to get to my photographs quickly, do this:
1) click on the ZAGGskins box
2) either under Most Popular or New Designs, click See All
3) to the right of where it says Browse ZAGGskins Designs, click on artists written in small writing
4) I am the 3rd artist down that page. Click where the blue writing says More from artist Megan Walker - and then you will finally get to see all my photos! Sheesh! LOL!

Now as is usually the case, I didn't get this cool little gig on my own. I need to thank Shelly Hesch for being my biggest cheerleader, and John Hesch of Zagg for liking my photographs so much and introducing them to artistic director Louie Fernandez. And for Louie's patience with me! And especially to my long time friend Brad Smith who had the patience and encouragement of a saint while teaching me the things I needed to know about Photoshop. If it weren't for him this wouldn't have happened! And I'm the first one to admit I have a long, looooong way to go in the learning department. OY VEY.

So thanks for reading, and now I do believe it's time to partake of some diet Coke and Ruffles :D
