weekend round-up/mayhem

~ Happy 40th Birthday to my dear friend Kerrie! ~
My friend Kerrie celebrated the Big 4-OHHH Friday. She is the president of the young women's organization at church, and she is one fabulous person! She can do anything and everything, and I have never - EVER - seen her without a smile on her face! I admire and appreciate her so much - and I know all the girls love and adore her - so this is what I made her for her birthday. I put it in a turquoise frame :)
~ Congratulations Kacy! Class of 2011 ~
Kacy just happens to be Kerrie's niece! I made one of these for each of the 7 graduates in our young women's program, cuz as you know, I love those girls ever so much... but Kacy is the only one that has hers so far... mua-ha-haaa :D
Okay - I'm not even going to try to explain this... it's just Matthew being Matthew and generally driving me nutsy fagan :/
~ Mouse Recovery ~
So Matthew goes dirt biking with a friend. He is a wild man. Very skilled, but scary wild. He clears a 90 foot triple jump. He's just not expecting a berm (a walled turn) to be right there as he lands. He hits the berm, flies 30 feet, lands in a heap, dislocates his shoulder, hurts his hip, knocks himself out and gets a concussion..... and the first thing he says when he comes to is "DID YOU SEE THAT?!?! I CLEARED THE TRIPLE JUMP!!!" :/
~ FINALLY! My mid-century modern chair! ~
Okay, you don't even KNOW how excited I am to have this! I have looked for a chair for my bedroom forever! Found on Craigslist after losing several others... original condition and PERFECT! We picked it up Saturday and, as you can see, we ALL love it!
~ that's right: I WIN ~
Remember *THIS POST* and how my boys wreck everything?!?! Well I was not going to let them get away with it. I adore my colorful paper lanterns and so I got these patterned ones on sale at Pier 1 and made them replace the ones they ruined. SCORE ONE FOR ME! HAH!

weekend update

I hope everyone had a nice weekend! I laid low the entire time. AND. STILL. AM.
I watched Season 1 of Bones (verdict still not out - I'm on the fence),
started Season 2 of Gilmore Girls (thanks Teresa!) which of course I lurve,
did a lot of quiet type photography stuff on and off per laying low status,
brushed Angel and Luna and fed them treats,
got to had to skip church due to coughing up a lung,
and pretty much survived on Dayquil and diet Coke the entire weekend.
I am not complaining. It was awesome.
Okay, these two sunset shots from my back yard? Are from the SAME sunset!
How wild is that! I love how you can see the rope hanging from our tree :)
~
Below are a few examples of pics I took to add to my portfolio at Zagg.com
Not sure when they'll appear on the site though - keep checking!

I think this one needs to be my next cell phone skin :D

Happy Monday everyone, and let's have a great week!

the gamut

I hope everyone had a great weekend! Ours was packed with just about everything you could think of and more!

Thanks for all your awesome comments here on the blog, via Facebook, through e-mail, and in person, regarding my last blog post :) Sometimes there's just not enough aspirin. You guys de bomb and make everyting iry man.

So this is my new painting - I just finished it. It's called "Spring". I might have to marry it. Not really - it's going into my Etsy store along with a few others. But I definitely lurve it. Speaking of which, I may need to make up some more of my "so little aspirin" frames and sell those in my Etsy store too... opinions?

So we indeed ran the gamut this weekend. The Mouse and I cleaned out our closets and made donations. Davy's girlfriend Val left for a month of volunteer work in India. John & Daniel helped a family move. We had to do a major grocery store run which nearly required a U-Haul rental. Mouse went to a birthday party, I didn't even count how many movies were watched all weekend, and I reorganized the TV/DVD cupboard. Which leads me to announce that I got my Mother's Day present from John early - an amplifier and speakers that I can 1) plug the record player into, and 2) play my iTunes through! I will no longer have to settle for my tiny laptop speakers as my only form of listening to music - my house can once again be filled with BIG TIME SOUND!!! Way to go John - I am happy, happy, happy :D So John and the Mouse spent some time getting that all hooked up.
We are still having such fun with Daniel being home. (even if it means he and Davy spend every spare moment watching Avatar cartoons like they're in 6th grade, but you didn't hear that from me) My Luna is his little jogging buddy before he goes running.

And then Angel and Luna get to walk around the park, which they love. But I have ulterior motives and I bet you already know what they are. That Luna of mine is a naughty little character, and she loves to chase bunnies. She never catches one of course, but just watching her run like a bullet is seriously more fun than you've ever had :)

Tee Hee
Sunday was an amazing day. My boy Davy was ordained an Elder in our church, which means he now has the Melchizedek Priesthood. Pretty big stuff. Ordained by John, with Daniel in the circle as well, and our Bishop, and High Council representative. Just look at these handsome boys. I'm so proud of them. I'm so proud of my Davy.

I was also called to work in the Young Women's organization at church, which is so awesome! I am very excited! I love and adore all the other leaders I will be working with, and the girls totally rock. It's gonna be great :D

Last evening John, Davy & I sang at a special missionary meeting at church, and that was really neat. It sounded great too. So as you can see, it was quite a churchy day. Normally I have a hard time with churchy days. I'm a bit of a free spirit. I'm not a very good meetings person. Our usual 3 hours every Sunday is sometimes more than I can handle. Yesterday I was there 6 hours. And it happened to be "Fast Sunday" so we had all been fasting 24 hours. Now, the Walkers are not great fasters. We get really cranky. And shaky. We get headaches. Sometimes Davy surpasses white and turns clear. So it was a really big churchy day, with lots of neat stuff going on, and no food. But we made it through, and I know we have our Father who art in heaven to thank for it all.

And then we ate. And I partook of much diet Coke. And we played UNO. And I threw nothing. And it was well.

first buds and blooms

Good morning and happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend. Here in California the weather was absolutely gorgeous - definitely the most beautiful spring weekend ever! I heard it was similar spring weather near and far over much of the nation - hopefully in your back yard along with mine.

I am sad to say my weekend of photography was upstaged by a wicked migraine I woke up with Saturday morning. However I still took advantage of the amazing weather outside. I took my medication, poured a nice diet Coke, and relaxed on the trampoline in the sunshine most of the day! I will not complain!

And as I felt a bit better I took a few snapshots of my roses that were finally in full bloom. I had been following the very first pink bud as it progressed, and here it is for you to see - finally blooming so beautifully along with all the other buds that are now in abundance. So lovely!

Does this look like one little happy rose or what! Happy happy joy joy :)

more spring for your step

Happy Friday everyone! And if these gorgeous, colorful, aerial views of Dutch tulip fields don't make you feel like all is right with the world... please go do something really, really nice for yourself! In fact, go do something nice for yourself anyway - and for someone else as well! Perhaps a big bunch of beautiful tulips?
These lovely photos are originally from forty-sixth at grace and I found them via oh happy day. Neither are blogs I frequent, though both are popular blogs and I was delighted to run across these photo gems! And like I mentioned on Twitter recently, I've been blog surfing lately - so stay tuned for some new blog recommendations next week!
Have a lovely weekend everyone! I am hoping to spend some time taking pictures of as much spring as I can possibly fit into two days filled with driving and church and who knows what else!
