Last week John and I took our middle son Davy through the Temple, as is customary before serving a full-time, two year mission for our church. Davy will be serving in the Kennewick Washington Mission (WA state) and reports to the Mission Training Center in just under a month. The decision to enter the Temple is a life-changing commitment. It is one of the most important steps a person can take in this life. We were very proud of our Davy.
Greeted by the familiar gold statue of the angel Moroni, it was a beautiful day. In reference to the title of my post, a covenant is a promise between God and man. The Temple is considered the house of the Lord, and a holy place, a place apart from the world, a place of learning, a place to receive blessings. And it is here where you make covenants with the Lord. Many are symbolic, many are just common sense to keep you living a righteous life. Others frequently make the mistake of thinking what goes on inside a Temple must be very strange... there are topics we can discuss, but our covenants are considered sacred to us and we do not discuss them.
the Temple grounds are always so beautiful.......

On our way out after a long and lovely morning - is this one adorable boy or what :)
Thank you Tom & Linda Tippets, for coming along and taking this picture for us!
Davy (who has Peter Brady hair) & John (who is very proud of his son)

Me and my Davy (by this point, he's going please just take the picture - I'm going to faint I'm so hungry!)
❤ I LOVE YOU SO MUCH DAVY ❤
Congratulations to Davy. What a special day for all of you. Exciting time of preparation...one more month of Peter Brady hair and then it's business cut for two wonderful years. I think you really should document the haircut. Wait? I keep forgetting you are a hair stylist and you can do it. You might need to take him to a barber, just so you can document it. Have a great month getting ready. Looking forward to more pics.
ReplyDeleteThis post is awesome. I just LOVED every bit of it!

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful day for ll of you. There is nothing quite like going through the temple with your "child" (even though they are rather grown-ups.) Congratulations to you all. Good Work!

ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Davy, and you and John! I loved the pictures (and captions)! Good luck in all your preparations to get him ready to go. It's an exciting time....and we LOVE our missionaries!!!
ReplyDeleteSorry.....rusty61 would also be Debbie. :) Love ya!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Wow! They didn't send him very far. It would be hard for me as a mom to know that my child is so close, but yet I couldn't see them; however, you must be really proud. I am waiting for this day.
ReplyDeleteWow, such LOVELY comments - all of you dear, dear friends! I had not realized I hadn't commented back at all! Thank you so much for all your loving support and kind encouragement. Davy has come such a long way, and I am so proud of him. There really is nothing like seeing your grown child in the Temple - it makes me gasp with happiness each time I see them dressed in white looking so handsome :)
ReplyDeleteIt is very hard to have them gone for 2 years. My oldest son was in Argentina so there was no issue of if I would run into him. I have definitely joked around that I may happen to "run into Davy" since I love Washington and into Idaho. My husband keeps insisting I leave Davy alone, but he also knows he can't control me whatsoever :D
Much Love XOXOXO
