shenanigans

Davy found the jammies ALL 3 boys wore when they were little... and squeezed into them :)
OH DAVY!
(don't BUG me for saving them - I'm making a quilt out of all their old clothes OKAY?)
The Mouse got a dune buggy from our next door neighbors as a summer project!
He was over-the-moon excited!
They had never been able to start it - let alone drive it...
Matty had it running in one day.
ONE DAY!
What the !@#$%^&*(!
Matty was awesome to help me pot some new plants for the porch!
And he got 3 pepper plants so he can grow 1 sweet and 2 UBER hot peppers!
This is one of his hotsy totsy peppers - look how big it is!
Luna did not help :/
But she did get a ride in the Mouse's dune buggy, hehe
You can watch him giving her a little ride in this video! SO CUTE!
(um, you may want to turn your volume down...)

bark cloth score!

YEAH BABY! I scored this vintage bark cloth quilt on eBay for $59 - are you even kidding me?!?!
Bark Cloth - do you know what it is? I bet you do and you don't even know it!
Think 1950's..... think Hawaiian, or tiki, or fun atomic prints..... on thick, rough, nubby fabric.
Bark Cloth!
It wears well, it feels so vintagy-good, and you can even find lots of reproductions now too.
I love how it looks on our bed, especially for summer time. And bark cloth is so CHEERFUL!
You know what's so terrific about bark cloth? ANY kind of quilt, for that matter!
Not every square is made from the coolest, most gorgeous piece of fabric..... some are kinda ugly!
But put all of them together? And together they create a beautiful thing! So amazing!
There's a lesson somewhere in there, people!
Bring me some fresh pineapple and a ukulele please! :D

more craft therapy - lamp shade tutorial

Cutest homemade lampshade EVER. From dish towels and quilt scraps. Here's how:
I stripped off the original shade (leaving the inner lining just cuz)
Using 2 dish towels and a torn quilt scrap, I cut 4 panels for the shade - 2 each of both fabrics.
I left at least a half inch overlap on the top and sides, just to make sure there was enough fabric.
Note that I also used some trim from extra dish towels to sew onto the quilt fabric at the bottom.
Using my GLUE GUN to attach the fabric to the shade frame,
I carefully stretched and glued the quilt panels to the metal frame first (above).
I glued the quilt panels first since they were most fragile and needed to be secured to the frame.

Next, I folded and glued the dish towel panels right onto the quilt panels (above & below)
The sides were hardest, since they curved - I just went little by little.
I folded and sewed a few of the dish towel panels beforehand, but found it wasn't necessary -
it was just as easy to stretch and fold the panel as I was gluing it to the quilt fabric.
Close-up of finishing off the edge as I stretched and folded the panel before gluing it.
I think I surprised myself that it turned out so GREAT! :)
And my very most favorite feature....... that I didn't even expect.......

tutorial - switch & outlet covers

FINALLY! How to make these easy and cute covers :)
Here are your materials, including the scrapbook paper of your choice cut into a simple template.
Use a liberal amount of Mod Podge to goo up the entire back of your template.
Place the outlet cover on the template like so, and goo up the back of the cover a bit.
Fold the template over the outlet cover and secure.
Using the x-acto knife, slice a star-like shape into the paper, fold flaps back through hole, secure.
Liberally coat the front of the outlet cover with Mod Podge - it will look cloudy but will dry clear.
Enjoy the cuteness, hehe :)
