eclectic list & give-away

I love that word, eclectic! FYI. Not only is it fun to say, it's just so... me.
Today is not only List Tuesday, but Aimee's 40th birthday!
Aimee from Artsyville who started List Tuesday in the first place.
Happy, Happy Birthday Aimee - I love the world with you in it :)
~
My list today is a project I did... a CD of Christmas music - eclectic of course!
I have hundreds of holiday songs in my iTunes, and enjoy collecting new ones too.
I love making different mixes every year, and eclectic mixes are always my favorite.
New, old, funny, serene, jolly, meaningful, classic, unique... you name it.
These are my most favorite songs this holiday season, 2010.
This is one FUN mix!
Some of the songs I have dearly loved since I was little
- Perry's Como's "Home For The Holidays" is one of them -
some of them have been favorites of mine for years,
and some of these songs are as new as this year.
~
But wait! There's more! I'm going to do a GIVE-AWAY!
Leave a comment here telling me what YOUR favorite Christmas song is, and WHY!
It doesn't have to be one of mine - I want to know what you love and the story behind it.
This Sunday at midnight, I'll draw 5 names, and send the winners a copy of my CD.
FUN!!! Happy commenting :D

  1. I love your list. Back in the '90s I took all of our old Christmas albums and made mixed tapes for my family members. The one song that made everyone's mixed tape was Barbra Streisand's version of "Jingle Bells." It was the first song on the album and the first of the records that my mom played when she turned on the Christmas music every year. It was always the first sign of the holidays.

  2. Aw Laur... that was a great story. I'm sorry you lost your friend - and happy you have a song that still connects you to her. Thank you so much for sharing that sweet story :) Is "River" the song that Joni Mitchell originally wrote? I love, love, love that song ("Oh I wish I had a river, so I could skate away on"...) - it's a definite favorite of mine. And girlfriend, I love you too ❤

  3. Chopsticks and Spaghetti,
WELCOME! And thank you so much for your comment! You know what? I'm ashamed to say I have never heard Barbara's version of "Jingle Bells"! Looks like I have some sleuthing to do on iTunes :) Thank you for sharing your song and story - that's very similar to "Home for the Holidays" for me... the record I would put on the stereo every day after school :)

  4. My favorite Christmas song is O Holy Night! I don't really have a story but when it is sung really well it gives me goose bumps. I love to hear Josh Grobins version. It's a good reminder to me of the true meaning of Christmas! Makes me wish I could sing my savior praises like that but my voice could never do HIM justice.

I would love a copy of your CD!!!

  5. I love Christmas music . . .it really seems to set the season. I have to have 2 favorites: Amy Grant's "Breath of Heaven" and Harry Belafonte's "Mary's Boy Child", but I like it all: the childrens' songs, Jingle Bells and . . . everything! Your list is perfect!

  8. oh wow, your holiday playlist is fantastic! scott loves the song from the chipmunks and is happy there's no 'silent night', which always makes him get teary-eyed :). i think david archuleta's version of 'the first noel' is pure perfection.

thank you for the wonderful giveaway!

  9. Harry Connick Jr... Pretty much played the crap out of his first Christmas release. On CASSETTE, no less. <--HEYO!

Favorite? Sort of impossible, but I do like me some Dean Martin, Johnny Mathis, and Bing Crosby trads.

  10. Wow, TERRIFIC COMMENTS everyone! I love to hear about your favorites and why - it's so interesting and wonderful to me :) Thank you for commenting!

I'm so happy everyone likes the songs I chose so far! It was a hard choice - I had to delete so many of my favorites to stick to just 20 songs! There will definitely be a Volume 2 next year! :D

I love Harry Belafonte but have never heard "Mary's Boy Child"... there's another one for me to check out!

Oh, and this isn't the cover - just my list for List Tuesday, with some silly Luna & Angel doodles added :) But I'm glad you like it!

Keep the comments coming everyone! xoxoxo
