I finally - FINALLY! - feel like I can shout the news regarding this project I've been working on for a month or so!
Which is a really good thing because it's practically done me in to keep it to myself!
I have contracted with a company called Zagg, so they can use my original photographs for their 'skins' :D
HOW TOTALLY COOL IS THAT!!!
A 'skin' is a strong, thin, protective layer that attaches to either a hand held device (ie cell phone) or a laptop.
It's basic purpose is to protect your expensive device, while at the same time, you hardly know it's there.
Zagg is the home of the original Invisible Shield - many of you may already use this product -
and if not, I urge you to check it out and familiarize yourself with it because it's amazing.
But now you can decorate your 'skins' and make your devices more your own, as well as protect them.
That's where my original photos come swooping in with all their color and fun!
Zagg offers their own artwork to choose from, as well as the artwork of several other graphic artists.
Another creative option for creating a Zagg 'skin' is that you can upload an original photo of your own.
I am Zagg's only artist who uses actual photographs instead of graphic design, and I am very proud of that!
So far I offer 50 photographs to choose from on the Zagg website, and I am adding more photos frequently.
IS THAT GROOVY OR WHAT!!!
Below are some examples of my own work that I pulled right from their site:
And so my friends, I am very excited :) If you'd like to see all that Zagg has to offer - which is a LOT - here is the Zagg Website. If you'd like to see ALL the 'skins' available, click on the light gray box that says ZAGGskins. If you'd like to get to my photographs quickly, do this:
1) click on the ZAGGskins box
2) either under Most Popular or New Designs, click See All 3) to the right of where it says Browse ZAGGskins Designs, click on artists written in small writing
4) I am the 3rd artist down that page. Click where the blue writing says More from artist Megan Walker - and then you will finally get to see all my photos! Sheesh! LOL!
Now as is usually the case, I didn't get this cool little gig on my own. I need to thank Shelly Hesch for being my biggest cheerleader, and John Hesch of Zagg for liking my photographs so much and introducing them to artistic director Louie Fernandez. And for Louie's patience with me! And especially to my long time friend Brad Smith who had the patience and encouragement of a saint while teaching me the things I needed to know about Photoshop. If it weren't for him this wouldn't have happened! And I'm the first one to admit I have a long, looooong way to go in the learning department. OY VEY.
So thanks for reading, and now I do believe it's time to partake of some diet Coke and Ruffles :D
Congrats! Love your work. It's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWell, that is pretty DARN exciting, girlfriend!! Congratulations. They look beautiful. I wish I had something to put in one! :-)

ReplyDeletei hope they have one for my phone and will visit, now. i'll let you know!
congratulations, meg! it sounds weird, but i'm really proud of you!
happy easter!
xo, c
Congratulations! What a great accomplishment. I think you NEEEED to get an iPhone now, put one of your skins on it and start walking around in public, talking on it, leaving it out on display when you are in a restaurant, etc, so that when people say "Where did you get that Awesome skin for your phone?!" you can tell them that you DESIGNED it!!!
ReplyDeleteVery cool pictures. Nice and cheery and colorful. Makes me happy to look at them.
Way to go Megan!
